This Privacy Policy explains how Al Fajr (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use eMadrasah (the “Service”). It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. Your name and email address, and — if you register with a password — an encrypted form of that password (we never store passwords in plain text).
- Google sign-in. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from your Google account (such as your name and email address) to create and identify your account. We do not receive your Google password.
- Educational data. Information generated through your use of the Service, such as course enrollments, assignments and submissions, quiz attempts and results, grades and report cards, attendance, messages, forum posts, and calendar events.
- Files you upload. Documents and media you submit as part of your coursework.
- Technical data. Limited technical information needed to operate the Service securely, such as session cookies and information used for rate-limiting and bot protection.
2. How we use information
- to provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
- to authenticate you and keep your account and the platform secure;
- to deliver core educational functions — enrollment, assignments, grading, attendance, messaging, and progress reports;
- to send necessary account and Service communications (for example, email verification and password resets);
- to prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, and comply with legal obligations.
3. Who can see your information
Access within the Service is governed by your role. Students generally see their own data; teachers can see the coursework, grades, and attendance of students in the courses they teach; and administrators can manage the roster and platform. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Service providers
We use trusted third parties to run the Service, and they process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
- Google — optional sign-in.
- Cloudflare — bot protection on sign-up and password reset.
- Email delivery provider — sending verification and notification emails.
5. Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the Service to function — primarily to keep you signed in and to maintain your session securely. We do not use advertising cookies.
6. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service and meet Al Fajr’s educational and record-keeping needs. If you delete your account, your profile is deactivated; certain records may be retained where required for legitimate educational, legal, or security purposes.
7. Children’s privacy
The Service is used in an educational setting that may include students who are minors. Where a student is a minor, we rely on the involvement and consent of the school and the student’s parent or guardian. Parents and guardians may contact the institution to ask about their child’s information.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted passwords, access controls enforced at the database level, a strict content-security policy, and rate limiting. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and rights
You can review and update your profile information within the Service and delete your account from your account settings. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information; contact the institution to make a request.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact
For questions about this Privacy Policy or your information, please reach out to Al Fajr through your usual administrative contact at the institution.
